p4ce UI and System Features
p4ce like its bigger brother n4ce is Project Based. Data is stored within its own project folder on the internal storage device of the PDA. This could be an SD card or Compact Flash card.

Various data types can be stored in a project including control Station coordinates, used in reduction and adjustment calculations, raw survey Observations and point Coordinates used in Setting out.
The front end of the program requests you to open an existing project or start a new one. Once initiated the adjacent screen will be displayed.
Interaction with Pocket 4ce is through Icons, Menus, and Tabbed Pages containing Input Windows.
PDA's operate with touch screens, which are best operated using the supplied stylus. Popup screen keyboards will appear when you are expected to enter typed data. |

Each project contains descriptions which help identify the project. Entries like Date, type of Instrument, Surveyor, Site Name, Client etc are entered as part of the project set up.
In general there are two ways of viewing data, either in a list or graphically. We call this Duality of Display and Edit since changes made in one environment is reflected in the other. With the restrictions of the PDA screen this facility is provided by tabbed views.
When working in graphics, Zoom options are provided allowing you to move closer into detail. A Query option is also available allowing you to pick the point of interest and a page pops up with all the information about this point. |
