Extracting Points from CAD Data
One of the powerful features of the basic Survey edition is the ability to import CAD data.  This can be used as a backcloth to your how your surveys integrate.  A further need may be to extracted coordinated points that can be used for setting out or Model creation.

The first stage in ectracting points from CAD is to turn on/off CAD layers that are not required.  Individual layers can be viewed graphically and their status altered, thus identifiying relavant CAD detail for setting out.

A new Coordinates folder is created and the modified CAD image used as a Backcloth, as shown opposite.

The second stage is to select the CAD elements that need points generating.  This can be done elements by element or everthing enclsoed within a rectangle.

A unique code and point number will be associted with each CAD element.  If the CAD element has an elevation (3D) then this will be used to calculate levels on points.

Finally, points will appear in the Points grid (spread sheet) and can be exported either in XYZ format or possibly more importantly in instrument formats, as shown opposite.  These formats include Leica, Trimble, Topcon, Sokkia and Pentax.  We also support our own AiC logging formats - see Pocket 4ce.
