Point Options in n4ce When viewing survey detail graphically in n4ce, in conjunction with the Code Table, points form the basis for all detail shown in a Model. Simply put, no point equals no features and no DTM. If you move or delete a point any detail attached to that point is also affected. If you delete a point used in a DTM then the model re-forms about the missing point rather than create a hole. There are separate menu options dealing with Features and DTMs.

There are the Point Grid options where you right click over the spreadsheet to select edit options. This is column sensitive if you right click over the code column options related to codes will appear.
One option unique to the Professional edition is the inclusion of a Display List. This allows you to tag groups of points you may be interested in for copying, tables, edit etc.
This concept is called Duality of Display and Edit, where changes in the Point Grid are also seen in graphics and visa versa. |

The List option, introduced above, is further explored in the graphics environment. There is a special menu that gives you further tools for adding and removing points from this list.
The points selected in the list will be identified with a highlighted blob, as shown opposite. Further, the number of points in the list is shown on the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
Points can become active in edits or other application tools like tables and projections. See the text filter elsewhere.
When working on List points the Pick option, shown opposite needs to be set to List.

Many of the options in the Points menu, shown opposite, are similar to the Lite edition with the exception of Rotate, Project, Generate, Snap, Average, Setting Out and options in the Annotation sub menu.
The Generate option has been introduced to extend the options introduced in Lite to extract points from CAD for setting out. Here you can further select which type of element is used to generate points, including text. This last option is particularly useful where you may be provided with a CAD drawing that is in 2D and you need to generate heights.
The Snap, Average and Setting Out options are unique to the Professional edition. Delete, Move, Insert and Transformation are covered in Lite. Projections are covered in the next section. |
